As horse lovers ourselves, we know the importance of a safe and secure place to board, train and ride our horses. After several years of experiencing a variety of boarding facilities, we concluded that if we wanted an environment we felt met all of our needs and especially the needs of our horses, we should simply do it ourselves. We are so confident in our horse keeping practices, we decided to offer the love and care our own horses receive to others.
The Compass Rose Farm sits on 38 acres of beautiful pastureland surrounded by farms, more pastureland, wooded trails, and quiet country roads.
Our quiet country setting is just minutes from the hustle and bustle of Murfreesboro and Shelbyville, Tennessee – a great escape for you and your horse.
We investigated other facilities and researched the boarding business thoroughly, and we believe we have designed a nearly perfect environment for your horse.
All our stalls face out to either a courtyard area or pasture behind our property with wide, double Dutch doors to allow for plenty of fresh air, natural light, and views of the other horses or cows. Each stall is 14’ by 14’ and is constructed with double walls between each stall. The stalls have remote controlled ceiling fans and lights, a mineral block, two water buckets, and a corner feeder for hay and grain located low to the ground to promote good respiration. We use pine shavings for bedding, and the stalls are cleaned thoroughly each day to eliminate ammonia odors, to keep the horses’ feet dry at all times, and to cut down on parasites and flies.
Even though we are proud of our stalls and stable, we believe a horse should spend as much time in pasture as possible because pasture time allows for free grazing, socialization, and exercise which are key ingredients for a sound horse. Stalled horses are turned out most of the day; however, in the summer, they are turned out at night to avoid the heat of the day and the chance of sunburn.
Because we are a small boarding facility, we take pride in the personal attention we give each horse under our care and spoil them as if they were our own. Each horse gets daily love and affection and is checked over thoroughly to ensure there are no injuries. We live on the premises, which allows us to keep an eye on the horses 24/7.
We have a 100’ by 100’ fenced outdoor training area for clients to work with their horses or for horses who need to be separated from the others. Each pasture and the training area contain run-in shelters to protect the horses from the elements. We have a large tack room complete with saddle/blanket racks for each horse, a tack box for supplies/equipment, a stocked refrigerator, and a microwave for clients to use.
So what are you waiting for? Load up Ole’ Dollar and head for Compass Rose Farm…your horse will thank you for being choosy.
